During pregnancy many physiological changes ad endocrinological changes take place all for the purpose of creating an optimal environment for the developing baby. This very complex process involves every system of the pregnant woman’s body. The musculoskeletal systems are affected by the protruding abdomen, walking patterns and increased lumbar lordosis.
This adaptive process moves the center f gravity back over her pelvis to prevent falling forward.
The cervical spine compensates for the change in the lumbar spine with anterior flexion which in turn can cause unnecessary stress on the entire spine.
As the baby continues to grow and develop the woman’s body has to also continue to adapt to weight distribution changes and hormonal changes that are occurring.
All of these changes can cause the spine of the pregnant woman to become subluxated and therefore the proper nerve flow will be diminished and disconnected.
In order to have optimal function of the nervous system, there must be no interference of this system.
Getting the spine checked for subluxation on a regular basis offers the pregnant woman a healthier and less stressful pregnancy, not only physically but also chemically and emotionally.
